I had my eye on some sea ray hides for wrapping a cue but then looking closer I thought it looks too pebbly and thick...I haven't experimented with anything too exotic...

The Elephant and Shark I have worked had to be sanded and or skived.
The imitation Elephant that Tiger offers is a lot easier to work with unless you want the real thing.
