Experiment: Leave pool instruction book in bar...

I thought I would be nice and donate a good book on how to play pool to my local bar.

This is a small town bar and it has a table with a few pool magazines, pool rules, etc. laying there. And it would be good for about 50% of the players there to read a book on how to play pool.

We had a tournament last night and I left the book on that table.

So who was the only person to pick up the book and look through it?

One of the best players in the tournament! The player who won 1st place!

Interesting... (Note: There was a pro tournament I went to in the area a while back. The only local players who showed up to watch were the best players in the area.)

1 out of 5. IMO that's the number of poolplayers that will put an effort into improving thier game. That 1 will often exhast all available resources in the pursuit of a better game though. the other 4 out of 5 think that showing up to play pool is enough. And often they're happy with that.

It just comes down to different goals. Some people have to be the best they can be, and others are there just to have fun. I have no problem with the people that are only there to have fun.......

as long as they don't complain about losing that is.
