I'm sure this has been attempted in the past, but I'd figure I'd throw this out there to see if folks are interested.
Looking to manage fantasy pool events for upcoming major events, e.g., World Pool Masters, U.K Open, World Cup of Pool, US Open, International Open, European Open, and Mosconi Cup.
I would attempt to keep things simple...something like $20 to join, pick top 8 players in ranking order with more points being awarded for the top ranked positions. Prize money would be given to top three participants. I'd be open to suggestions on the details
The issue is managing the money. I wouldn't take a dime for my trouble. All money collected would be payed out. I could create a Venmo account to collect everyone's money, and provide everyone's picks via email ahead of the event.
The big problem is trust. Participants would need to trust me to hold the money and payout to the winners. Again, I'd be open to suggestions here too on how to manage this process to eliminate trust issues.
As of now here is what I would do...
1) Create a Venmo account. I don't have one currently.
2) The first event would be The World Pool Masters.
3) Participants would e-mail me their picks. I'd probably create a new e-mail address for this. I would reply that I received their picks and request payment.
4) I'd then create an e-mail distribution with all participants and include their picks.
So the question is, would you be interested in participating in something like this? I use to enjoy managing Pool and Auto Racing fantasy events in the past, so I figured I'd give this a shot. I really appreciate what Emily Frazer is doing with Matchroom to grow the game, and I thought some folks in the pool community would enjoy this.
Let me know if you would participate. Like I said, don't know how to address the trust thing without getting to involved and complicated.
