Fargo on Bar boxes

I've been playing around with the fargo situational rating because I have felt like I don't play as well against lower skill level players as I do against higher.

The data seems to support my feelings. My fargo against lower fargo players is 20 points lower than my actual fargo. And against higher skill level opponents my fargo is about 25 points higher.

But when I look at the win percentages the numbers are not very far apart. Meaning, my win percentage against lower skill players should be around 73%, but the actual is closer to 70%. So what we might call variance is only 3%. This is with about 700 total games. And all 8 ball on barboxes.

This is a fairly normal mental and focus thing that happens, we tend to rise up or down to the level of our competition. Sometimes it is a small nag in the back of your head that does not want to embarrass or crush the other player if they are clearly worse, the killer instinct takes a back seat to being nicer to the poor sap who can't make 2 balls in a row. For example, when I play someone I know I can beat easily, I play easier safeties on them, instead of trying to hook them, I may leave them a clean hit but still a hard shot.

One feeds the other. Striking the cueball well and thus the object ball opens the door to the precision required to handle clusters and tight spaces. Does every great shot maker do it at the same level? Of course not. But the first step to that control starts with precise hits on the object ball soooooo
You can precisely pocket an object ball dead center of the pocket and get position on your next object ball so poor you don't even have a shot, I know, I'm almost an expert at it.....
