Fats strikes again !
Does anyone, who knows him well, not think Ronnie Allen must
be the illegitimate son of the late, great "Fats"?
They both have (had) the ability to mesmerize their listeners to the
point where even if you know they are talking pure B.S. you don't
care because its soooo f---ing funny.
I will soon be sharing with Steve Booth (One Pocket.org)some of my experiences with Ronnie and Richie Florence over the years.
I will lead off with our first few encounters which R.A. recalls as if
he were in the early stages of Alzheimers.
Let me give you a clue as to where this might be headed. In 1961, I
only gambled at two games, 9 ball and Golf (on a snooker table)
and they ( RA and RF) did NOT enjoy their first few encounters.
Quite some time later Ronnie started teaching me One pocket and
I took some fairly expensive lessons. I finally learned the difference
between 9/7, 10/8, 8/7, 9/8, etc. So Ronnie's claims he alluded to
on segment 3 on his audio tapes shall be called into question.
After I have given my take on some of our encounters, over the last
45 or so years, I am in hopes S.B. will contact R.A. for his (sic) veri-
fication of said events. Sure wish Richie was still around!!!
R.A. if you're out there in cyberspace and catch this, give me a call,
( same cell # ) I never thought I'd say this but I miss you. However
I'm sure I'll get over it after a few drinks with you and you p--s me off!
