I think it must be Everest tip and the burgundy line indicates it's time to change for a new one. So that piece was ripped right on time, you were supposed to replace it soon anyway.

(the only thing which looks strange to me is that the colored layer is usually closer to the tip's bottom. I might be wrong though, been quite a while since I've last seen an Everest)

The line is where it is supposed to be. I think we are looking at a smaller diameter shaft. Yes it is time to replace the tip. It looks like it had had a long life and leather does break down over time.

i have done that

a few times, it happened to me when i was trying to do a migilla gorilla break and misscue.

were you hitting the ball a bit firm ?

bought this shaft 3 weeks ago for new. Unfortunately, what the supplier told me is that the tip came shorty by the factory as a default due to the 11.75 shaft. I order a new anyway. The shoot i was trying to amke was that...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kper5OgCdeE&list=UUd8kcrLQTfftiYq1i7oZvQg

nearly impossible for me:)

I must say, that is pretty short for a new shaft, I would think .... way too short. I believe, no pun intended... you got shorted on that tip. Even at 12mm, usually you have almost 1/4" of leather after shaping..

This is actually not all that uncommon with the tiger Everest tip. I have to say it...cuz I like tiger tips in general, but I have seen this happen to good players, bad players, players that hit hard, soft, lots of juice, and no English or spin at all.

Usually I have seen it happen when the tip is fairly new...within 6 months of age or so.
