It's a question of whether the aggressive between the layers would break down during soaking...

The Everest seem to start out on the softer side then stiffen up considerably with playing time. I also break with my playing cur so that might cause the considerable change too.

Hard Hard Hard. No layers. Single chunk of leather or polycarbonate. Last thing I want to be doing is working my tip all the time. I chalk after every shot. Don't want to have to stop and shape or scuff it up.

I've played for hours with it so far, even broke a few times, and have not had to scuff or shape it. I'm also enjoying a Taom Fusion on a JFlowers cue and a Caiden Fighter soft on a Rhino CF shaft. All three are on different cues, so no direct comparisons, but everything the Recoil seems to be bringing to the game makes it a frontrunner for me, so far.

I'm seeing an awful lot of soft's being mentioned. I must have been doing something wrong for all these years going with Hard's. I'd rather not go back to the days when I was constantly working my tip tho. Hmmm....🤔

I play with hard tips, but polycarbonate is too hard for me even for breaking. I have used layered hard tips from several brands. They are all quite a few years old. Currently I have Precision (Searing), G2, Instroke, Zan (Grip Hard), and Talisman. I also have a couple Triangle tips and one Kamui Clear Black Medium. I use a gator shaper and nothing else to treat the tips.
 
It goes without saying, DON'T buy square tips or square tips made of some super-hard ceramic. Knives don't cut it and a metal file works but slowly. If I could trim it to put on a shaft, it probably would damage the cue ball.

We have similar taste.... next time, give a Caiden hard a try.
Fighter, or Warrior. I prefer the warrior, but both are a quality tip.
