Round 2 is highly contested. That would have been a nice TV.

I think those Filipinos played too much pick-up games before the tournament. Most of them zoomed to later rounds in IPT NA, not this time.

However the US top guns are alive and well even if 2/3rds of the Americans are gone yet again in early rounds.

Do not count the Philippines out yet....

They still have their big guns in like Reyes, Bustamante, Orcullo, Alcano and Pagulayan. Luat, Lining, Parica and Gallego are no pushovers too . They are also capable of beating anybody left in the competition. The pinoys might have been unlucky yesterday but today is a totally new ballgame. In fact if you look at the number of players left per country, the Philippines still has the best percentage compared to England and Germany. They started with 12 players and still have 9 left in the 3rd round. England had 11 originally but is now down to 4 in the final 60. Also, the Germans had 10 and is now down to 5 players.

==================================================

Philippines 9 out of 12 left equals 75%
Germany 5 out of 10 left equals 50%
England 4 out of 11 left equals 36%

The Americans are far worse. They started with 94 and now they're down to 19...

Netherlands had 5 originally and is now down to 4 in the final round - 80%
Taiwan (not including Furuta Kazuo) had 3 originally and is now down to 2 in the final round - 67%

I was only referring to those 3 countries who had more than 10 in the tournament. Too lazy to count the USA because I was still sleepy then but I believe that out of 94, they are down to 19 (less than 20%).

I will bet though that if the Netherlands and even Taiwan had more than 10 players, the Philippines would still have a better batting average.

Netherlands had only 4 entering and all 4 are still in the tournament.

I have the feeling Alex P. will be in the last 6. He's having a long drought.
Not if you count him winning the Philippines national tourney a couple weeks ago, which consisted of ALL the Filipino superstars, except Efren, Django, and Manalo. LOL, those 3 are a big subtraction, but it was an extremely competitive tournatment nonetheless.
