Feather strips: wood vs. plastic vs. rubber

I would appreciate it if someone with experience would comment on the relative advantages and disadvantages of the different materials used for featherstripping.

All three are ok to use, but not for every application. Most of the time the better tables come with a wood strip that can be shaved to fit the joint,or it already is. Plastic strips are similar to wood but cant be worked easily as wood can. Some are hollow, some are solid.

The rubber ones require using a different technique to install them, they need to be snug or they wont work/look very good.

Wood is easiest to work with both installing and shaping , I keep a set in my truck ,just in case I break one on a re-cloth.

I would re-use any of them if they fit ok.
 
I prefer wood. Rubber is alright but sometimes you get those waves in them. For the rubber ones when you pound them in you start from the ends instead of the middle.

Also with the wood or plastic if you have trouble getting them to fit. You can wrap masking tape around them to make them thicker.
