How much clearance should I leave for Simonis 860 cloth when I make my featherstrips?

The groove is 1/4" wide x 5/16" deep. What should the exact dimensions of the featherstrip be to account for your recommended method of wrapping the cloth around the featherstrip and the thickness of the Simonis material?

Standard wood featherstrips are 1/4 X 5/16
Easier to size down the featherstrips by 1/16 then recut the channel.
Strips should fit tight with the cloth. Use a rubber mallet when hammering them in and leave them
about 1/32 - 1/16 above the top of the subrail. After stapling the cloth use the mallet to fully
seat the strips so they are flush.

Should work.
I'd suggest you cut a test strip and check for a tight fit with the cloth.
You can always trim the strip a bit more if needed.

make your strips the same as your channel. remove very thin amounts at a time with a hand planer until its the right size.
