Fellini Case Question

I just got a hold of a 1978 Richard Black that came with a Fellini case. They are both in amazing condition, but I wonder about the age of the case. Does anyone know what year Fellini went from the straight stitching to the newer zig-zag version?

Thanks for any help on this.

Hi,

Was that by any chance the RB from Timmy Miers that was on EBAY ( http://cgi.ebay.at/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160271380783&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006 ) recently, shame the seller did not take paypal :) ? Went real cheap I thought.

Yep, that was the one =) The cue and case are actually about 10 times better than the pictures made them look. As for the palmercollector site, I've been there, but he doesn't have any dates. Just says that the zig-zag stitching is the newer style.

Thanks though!

I know Bob Hempel only made cases for a few years, out of Austin, Tx. He made a great product, but only (I think) for about five years ending in the early 80s.

Maybe someone else has some more accurate history on his cases. I personally had a couple and they were very well made.

I met Bob in Austin at the Side Pocket where he was playing in a straight pool league with James Davis (Bastrop) and some players whose names I've forgotten now. This would have been about 1977.

Thanks for the info. I guess no one is too terribly interested in the year the lables changed other than me =)
