Print correct?

Is the thickness of the leather generally as thick as the plastic the case is made of?

Thanks

It appears to be what is commonly called 'textured leather'.

Bull hide will look somewhat like elephant. JMHO though.

Not necessarily, the thinner the easier to get a nice seam. Most done with 2 to 3 oz but I have seen heavier. The case above looks like pebble finished cow that is rolled on and then chrome tanned

pebble grain cowhide

I have been in the women's shoe business since 1970 in wholesale, manufacturing, and retailer. I have bought leather as well as shoes. I do not know what they call it in the pool industry, however, we call it is pebble grain cowhide. It is side leather from a cow. The grain is stamped into the leather with a plate.

There is another process for softer leather called tumbling. This is not it because tumbled would pull out when stretched over the plastic.
