Felt so good!!

I beat one of the best bar pool players two games last night and it felt so good. I normally play on 4 1/2 X 9 Diamond Pro tables but I play every Tuesday night in a bar league. Our ph is sponsoring us so on those nights that we play away, I have to compete on bar boxes. Well, last night we had to play away on 3 1/2 X 7 tables with the big cb. Controlling that big rock was a big concern of mine. Well, my first match, 8b, was against one of the top bar league players. He broke and didn't make anything and I ran the rack, game over. I won my second match too but it was against one of the other players. Then, my third match was against the best player again. The balls were all bunched up after the break and I tried to run and and break out my balls, solids, as much as I could and got down to 2 solids left. His stripes were in bad shape as well. His stategy was to hook me repeatedly so he could get ball-in-hand each time to pick his balls off. I was able to kick successfully each time and continued to whittle my ball count down in the process. I had one ball left and the 8 and he tried a hook and didn't execute it well and I got out.

The last time I played him, a few weeks ago, I had a terrible layout with my balls all clumped together. He beat me pretty handily then and we only played one game. It sure felt good to play well against a very good opponent!

As Alfred Lord Tennyson said, "revenge is a dish most prefer to serve cold." Well done, Rick!

Nice job Rick. Always feels especially nice when you beat a worthy opponent.

Regards,
Dave

Congrats!...nice to hear that somebody plays 8-ball in a league besides me!LOL...way to go!...keep rolling the table and they will continue to fall!

Thanks! I was on such a high note when I got into my truck preparing to go home when I got a phone call from my wife telling me her dad just died. Didn't have much time to appreciate the win. Thought I'd recapture some of it by posting this thread.

Please accept my condolences, Rick. I'm sorry for your loss.

I can really relate to how you feel.Last year as a B+ I joined this 8 ball team that had 3 A's and an A+. I was a mid season fillin in because one of their members(an A+) quit. Anyways we had to play the top team in the league that had two A+'s and three A's.I was really $hittin myself because we had to play them a re-scheduled double header.

We played 10 games each that night and I went into deadstroke and won 9 of my 10 matches, including 3 break and runs.Considering the pressure I felt before going into the session and the results I had ,it was one of my more special moments in pool. That night made me really feel that I belonged and fed me confidence for the rest of the year.Later on we put it all together and won the league championship. RJ

ps. congrats to you on your success.

Thanks RJ. The team we played is and has been the best team in the league. We're the only team in their division that has given them some stiff competition. The first time we played them we lost 8 to 7. This last Tuesday night, we beat them 8 to 7. We're one game behind them. The next closest team is like 36 games behind us.

Congratulations on getting out of "one ball Hell" and the win.
