Female One Pocket Players?

Sarah,

Do you play one pocket? I've lived throughout the Northeastern/Mid-Atlantic states, and one thing that I've noticed is that I've come across very few female one pocket players, and absolutely no women who would say that one pocket is their favorite/primary game. In fact, the only female pro I've ever seen or heard of gambling at the game is Vivian Villareal (who plays it very well). In New York City, there are six or seven women I know who play regularly in WPBA tour events, and if I were to ask any of them to play cheap one pocket, they would look at me as if I were speaking in a foreign language.

I've never played in the midwest or west, so I have a limited frame of reference, but do you know why more women don't prefer to play one pocket over 9-ball (as many of the men do)?

Backpocket..... I love to play, come on down! Don't get to play much anymore (probably played 10 games of 1-pocket in 5 years), but will bet and will play!

Come on down.

BackPocket,

I'm really not sure of the answer to your question. If I had to guess I would say it is because the women are only expected to play 9ball. Plus, alot of women only want to play in 9ball or 8ball tournaments. I'm pretty sure that some women who claim to not play can really play. I myself, I'm still learning. I haven't played too much and I haven't gambled much playing one pocket. I try though.

I think all of the women should play every game. It makes better all around players.
