Hello, recently broke my xferrule, so replaced a westinghouse yellow linen ferrule. the hit was stiff and great but it was terrible for drawback, i can barely draw, i use an ultraskin m tip. or should i change a softer tip? or what ferrule is more suitable for this case?

Thanks

i have a HP2 that lost the crisp stiff hit over years of playing

will replacing the ferrule bring this stiff hit back?

sorry for the side track.

Not sure about hp2 but I have played with buch of wd700 and some old shafts sanded down play a lot softer and lost its stiffness from a change in taper. Some guys sand down cues when they clean it which does not make sense to me

Does this wd700 feels weak? Like you need to follow thru more?
The funny thing is i play better with this softer feedback but i couldn't help to think all ld shafts have short lifespans.

Tim, imo changing the ferrule has more effect than the tip. my friend had a great sugartree shaft but the ferrule cracked and he had to change it, it played entirely different.

I think you can just keep practicing and you surely can play well again when you get used to it.

I am pretty sure with regular play, production shafts will diminish in performance, they will wear out.

some pros tell me they change shafts once or twice a year, they play with Pre and Mezz

I thought I read somewhere in one of their adds that Mezz uses XTC material for their high performance shaft ferrules. $12 seems a bit high for XTC? Maybe some special construction inside?

Used to have an XTC ferrule on a Lucasi break cue cue. Played kinda soft. Never played with a Westinghouse ferrule, but if you mean Micarta, thought I read it was a harder ferrule material? Maybe you were using a slower, smoother stroke and need to try a faster, snappier stroke with a harder ferrule? On some tips that don't draw as well, I seem to need to jack up a little bit more to generate some draw. Try that
