I have a customer give me a scorpion jump cue and wants the ferrule and tip replaced with a canvas phenolic ferrule/tip combo.

Has anyone ever changed one with the brass ferrule? heres a link to the cue http://www.muellers.com/Scorpion-Jump-Cue--SJC,212.html

Should i just Cut the ferrule down? Heat it up and twist it off?

How does this graphite cut? will it slinter apart when i create a tenoin for the ferrule?

Thanks

You can cut the brass ferrule with either a carbide bit or a HSS bit. Take shallow passes.

To cut the fiberglass coating and reduce the chances of splintering or chipping, wrap the shaft with a layer of mashing tape, and then where you want to make your cut, score the shaft with a razor blade, and when you make your cut make sure that you are using a very sharp (new) bit. and again I recommend shallow passes. Hope this helps.
