Is there a big differences in the hit of a regular ferrule and ivory ferrule.

About $75.00 per ferrule difference, plus ever maker of Synthetic Ferrules is always trying to Duplicate the FEEL of Ivory.

Personally if you are a 4,5, 6, 7, or maybe 8 Player Ivory might not be noticed.

Got the Big Bucks spend it on Ivory, as my GrandPa use to say, There are NO POCKETS in a Shroud.

Ivory hits harder than most synthetic ferrules. Micarta and Ageis both hit harder than Ivory, but most others hit softer. There are as many different hits as there are ferrules and the hit you like is totally up to you. If you need more english on the ball then a softer ferrule is better. If you like a lot of sound to your cue then Ivory or one of the really hard ferrules are better for you. I hope this helps.

Yes. Are they worth it? Depends on what hit you're looking for. I prefer them myself.
