ferrules

The cue balls from the 1980s that were made into ferrules cracked too easliy. I have not tried it out of modern cue balls.

The ferrules made from cueballs play too soft. , and can still crack.

Joints and buttcaps are rock solid since they aren't so thin. I personally favor the cueball joint.

What do you guys think of ferrules, joints, and buttcap made from cue ball material?

I think like others have mentioned, they are not as strong as one may think.
I made some and had to replace all of them. The edges easily chip away. I had the same thing happen with Corian.

There are good materials out there already that will meet almost every requirement. There is nothing wrong with experimenting but the cueball thing is not a new idea. Not to mention it is quite a bit of work for a possible bad result.
