I’ve been told that fiber trim rings will bleed into your finish. Is this something anyone here has experienced?

I have never had it happen and I have built a lot of cues through the years with colored veneers. If any new suppliers of veneers have bleeding problems they need to change dying methods. But I have not heard of any. And if it does just put a thin seal coat on and let it dry before your flow out coats of finish and that should stop the problem.

I have never had it happen in 30 plus years I always seal coat all my cues before finish .

Thanks for the replies. I haven’t finished a cue yet, but the person that’s mentoring me told me about it. I’m sure it’s been a long time since it’s happened to him.

That’s what I don’t understand because I assumed that seal coat was used when he tried it, so I don’t understand how it could’ve bled.

I’m curious about what you’ve seen. Can you be more specific on what dyed stuff you had the problem with?

The composite materials that are dyed for certain color. I have some black stuff that looks like paper, I can tell it was dyed and would probably run.
