I recently received two custom shafts made from Fiddle Back maple, by the great cue maker, Jack Madden. May I say how incredibly good they both hit. They each have ivory ferrules and Talisman Pro Hard tips. The hit is nothing short of a "Heavenly Feel" Honestly, the feedback from the shot both in the accuracy and feel is truly awesome. An incredible combination:
Jack Maden custom butte and Madden custom fiddleback maple shafts w. Talisman tips at 13mm, professional tape and 4.08 ozs shaft weight.

That is very cool, I've heard nothing but great things about Jack and his cues, he is on(and damn near the top) of my list of custom cuemakers that I want a cue from asap. I have a Linds Production cue coming to me, and a Hadj custom cue, both excellent Phillipine makers, and I'm very excited to get them, but at the same time I want to try out some cues from some great American cue makers as well. I'm new to the custom cue world and already I am being sucked in by its addiction!
 
Jack makes a great cue, up here(and all over the U S) a lot of folks have them and for good reason, they shoot great and you aren't buying an overpriced name
 
I would like to know more about the shafts as well. I'm in the market for an extra shaft for my Frey cue. Maybe Mr. Madden can give some information on these shafts.
 
I love my Jack Madden.. even though i didnt buy it directly from jack, he is always there when i have a question or just to shoot the bull.. great guy that makes great cues.. deffinatly a rising star.. get them now while you can!!
