Finger mark

Just listened to some commentary during a quarter final match in the British Open. The commentator mentioned that another competitor said they had missed shape on a critical shot because the cue ball "caught a finger mark?" Is this really a thing? Sounds to me like the most lame excuse I've ever heard.
 
Yes it's a thing. Happens more with the smaller balls.

Never trust "the physics".
played BCA league with a guy from England, he was a good player....used his snooker cue...and positively ANAL about any dirt on the cue ball. his turn to break, would give the cb a complete rub=down with a towel.
