Like the title says I have an extra like new test hit 29in 3.8oz
5/16x14 brass pioleted jacoby edge hybrid shaft with a kamui black medium tip.
First $150 shipped gets it

Can they?

Can they make it a 3/8-10 effectively? Or would it be better to buy one that is already a 3/8-10?

U believe it can be done effectivly. I will as a Pete Tascarella tonight. I suppose it also depends on who does the conversion.. This shaft new costs $250 fron jacoby so it also depends on what it costs to convert it

I'll take it!

Hello,

PM sent regarding payment instructions.

Will check my messages later, as I'm heading out now to pick up some prescriptions for my mother.

Payment Sent. Thank You!

Hello,

Thanks for your Paypal information. Payment has been sent.

I look forward to trying this out on either a couple 80's Joss cues I have,
or my Runde-era Schon R-6.

Regards,

Glen (strum4u)

If it's a Jacoby pilot, it may not fit your Joss or Schon cue. If it's a Schon pilot it should work with almost any 5/16X14 joint. Be careful.

We'll Find Out if Jacoby Edge 5/16-14 fits Schon or Joss.

Neil,

Thank you for chiming in on this subject.

Unfortunately, I have not revisited this thread since purchasing this shaft,
and the seller has already shipped out the shaft.

He never said anything about incompatibility, and this shaft will be useless to me if it doesn't fit a Schon or Joss, and only Jacoby.

It would also be irresponsible on Jacoby's part, for not mentioning this detail to prospective buyers, as many cues on the market having 5/16-14 joints are snynonomous with Schon and Joss.

I realize that a Schon pilot is slighly larger than a Joss, and that's why one can use Joss shafts on a Schon, but NOT the other way around. I
purchased this with the intention of using it on my Joss cues.

It should arrive today, and I will find out if the shaft is compatible with either the Schon or Joss cues, or at least the latter of the two.

I will update with this crucial information, and will be contacting the seller if it doesn't fit either of these two major brands.

Regards,

Glen (strum4u)

Rich Turner, Please Respond ASAP!

Hello all,

As an update, this shaft has still not arrived, and the seller is NOT responding to either emails or PM's sent on this website.

Perhaps he is away from the computer, or on vacation?

I spoke with Jacoby today on the telephone and they said that a Joss has a longer pin than found on the butt of their cues, and
that a standard Jacoby 5/16-14 shaft will NOT fit a Joss. In order to make it work, the shaft would have to be modified, making it
a flat, face-to-face joint, which would involve shortening or removing the pilot. This is not something I would be willing to do.

Jacoby seemed surprised that any dealer familiar with their products, wouldn't have known that this Edge shaft, if their standard 5/16-14 joint, will NOT work with Joss cues. Perhaps, though, the seller did not see my post saying I was looking forward to using
this shaft with my Joss cue? Or perhaps he did, and this is the Joss version of the Jacoby Hybrid shaft? If so, then I'd have nothing
to worry about. But right now, with no communication from the seller, I'm left in the dark.

Concerned,

Glen (strum4u)

In my dealings with Rich, I have found him to be extremely helpful and one hell of an honest seller. Worst case scenario, shaft should resell PDQ at $150. Good luck!

+1. (No this message isn't too short, just agreeing with the above statement)

I had a Jacoby plioted shaft. We just machined the pilot down on the shaft and it worked/looked fine in a normal 5/16-14 butt.

Hello,

Thanks for chiming in,

I see that Rich has good feedback, and that he hasn't read my message yet (according to receipt), so I assume he is away from the computer and/or this forum, as I had already thought might be the case.

I'm thinkng that the shaft should have arrived from Long Island to the Atlantic City, NJ area by now, if he sent it out on Tuesday, as he claimed he would. I'm hoping it will arrive today, and then I'll know more. If sent by "Parcel Post," however, it could take weeks. I once waited 28 days for a Pechauer sent that way. I always use Priority Mail if using USPS. Parcel Post is a joke, and is a service that shouldn't even be offered IMO!

One fellow member has offered to buy the shaft for what I paid, so that's good to know. I'll just lose $15.00 on shipping. Not too bad. Or I could simply buy a Jacoby cue with the same joint. They are nice cues! But I won't modify the shaft. Just not my style.

Regards,

Glen

All's Well That Ends Well!

Hello all,

I wanted to update this thread with some closing details.

1. The shaft described in this thread did NOT fit my Schon or Joss Cues.

2. Another AZ member offered to buy the shaft for what I paid.
I ended up losing a few bucks, but made another AZ member
happy, and I threw in a brand new Tiger Sniper tip for good
measure.

3. The seller I bought this shaft from DID get back to me and offer
to resolve the issue, but I had already sold the shaft in the time it
took for him to contact me. He noted that a demo Jacoby Edge
shaft he had DID fit a Schon and Joss cue, though I'm certain that
the demo was NOT the shaft I received, or at least it was NOT
compatible with my Joss and Schon; both from the early 80's.

4. I have left Itrader feedback for the seller of the shaft, as he has
also done for me, and I am awaiting itrader feedback from the AZ
member who purchased the shaft from me.

So, in closing, as Shakespeare once said, "All's Well That Ends Well."

Regards,

Glen (strum4u)
