Not for me of-course, I still stink.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE COMPETING IN THE Singles Vegas Tournaments this weekend at the Billiards Cafe in Ayer. There was fierce competition for the trips to Las Vegas to play in the 2015 USAPL National Championships in July. The Following members of the New England USA Pool League will be traveling to Las Vegas to compete in Single Tournaments as a result of this weekends tournaments:

1. Alex. Alex is a member of our Sunday Youth Division. A strong player at 15 years old, Alex went undefeated in a field of about 85 players in the 30-75 skill level 8-ball tournament.

After four second place finishes in the junior state championships in a row after a win in 2013, finally got another win.

I guess in winning this thing, with the cost for a flight to Vegas and a week of hotel, my son won about $1,000 :) I did not really think of what he won really, just that he won LOL
 
Congratulations!! I talked with the TD and he said your son, Alex, was shooting lights out. Sorry I didn't see any of his matches but I did watch him warming up before the start of the 8 ball tournament and he looked like he was definitely in form.

He has plenty of shoulder space for a sponsorship decal :smile:
An extra week in Vegas is not cheap you know.

I just need to actually get your tips installed on his cue so he can play with it LOL, they are still in the rack case, have not had time to visit Webb for the install.
 
Aha.....I got another Alex I can cheer for.

HA!!! I wish I could do more for the juniors than just give them free product but we are still tiny in the scheme of things and all of our advertising is by word of mouth..

That's the whole reason I keep harping on fixing the for sale forum... Many "members" act like we are not the little guys anytime we mention anything about our plans or products in the main area so I have scaled back postings which has impacted sales just like they wished....

Maybe next fiscal year we can do something in the way to sponsor some juniors aside from products but until then if Alex needs any more chalk tips or racks just let me know.....

I like your posts, even if it's related to your products you have plenty of general info about testing and construction of equipment that I enjoyed reading.

I am going to see what option the person running the league can think of, the odd part is that other kids who are not as good as Alex and are not as known have gotten corporate sponsors. He played the kid that got second in the Jr Nationals last year in the MA state championship a few months ago and beat him 7-1, broke and ran two racks that set. If I can figure out a way to help him stop missing the 8 and 9 or scratching late in the rack, he can very likely be in the top 4 in every junior event, including nationals. He almost always loses only due to bad errors late in the rack, he runs 6-7-8 balls then dogs the last shot and the other player taps on a hanger to win.

In the 9 ball tournament he ran 2 full racks of 9 ball during warm up with me, then during the match he's hanging up 8 balls or scratching every other shot.

Check his tempo in match. I am betting he speeds up when he's making mistakes.. Use a stopwatch and music to build a solid rhythm for him so if the adrenalin flows he doesn't speed up subconsciously... When the adrenalin hits our vision narrows and our heart rate speeds up... You have to work to slow down in that situation.....

30 seconds seems like forever under the gun but it's about the right amount of time to take a good look walk around to the shot and execute... Using a stopwatch during practice is a good idea for anyone....
