Hello everyone.Just got back from DCC as player.Had a fantastic time overall. It is truly different from looking into the "pit" versus actually being in the "pit".Im at work now but when i get home ill give a more detailed break down of my time there.I got to chit-chat wth John(instroke) for a few while I was watching a friends booth. It was a nice and pleasant convo. But ill get into more details later on.If anybody has any questions about action or anything of that nature ill try my best to fill in the details.

Ok, now that ive kept everybody in suspense.Heres the rest of it.I signed up for the onepocket event at DCC.Im not the greatest one pocket player in the world, but i love the game and its strategies.I drove down Friday with a friend who buys and sells cues. There was a slight problem at the ticket office with the large number of people arriving and everybody wanting to get their badges. But after a little wait i did get my badge.I was pretty excited to see it say "player" instead of general admission.lol I watched the ring game and enjoyed it.It was very dramatic with its ebbs and flows.I like the idea of these type of event and think more should be done in the future.I especially liked the pari-mutual betting setup, which was similar to those at your local OTB.Didnt hurt that i made money.lol I then went home friday night planning to come back on sunday morning but the best laid plans of mice and men.lol After sleeping all day saturday we got wind of a second ring game.So after debating over chinese food, me and the soon-to-be mrs decided to drive the 1 hr 45 mins back to DCC .I also enjoy most of the second ring game but was tired plus i wanted to be ready for my chance at onepocket stardom we headed to be early.Unfortunately sunday after getting there, i found out there were only going to be a few matches that day. There was a large number of bank pool entrants and some other difficulities.I was one of the lucky ones and got to play on Sunday.I won 3-1 .I played a nice guy named Curtis .It was a great nerve wracking experience. Its a little different when you have some of the worlds best players watching you along with hundreds of other people.Luckily Kid delicious was right across from me and cracked a few jokes while we were standing waiting for our opponents to shoot.Gambling or playing smaller tourneys should be a breeze after this.lol

Good for you dude! Sounds like you had fun..........that is the main objective! That is the biggest hurdle....you first big one! You should be beatin efren soon! I remember the first big tourny I got in and it was great....nervous as hell, but lovin every minute! It's like your on the inside looking out....instead of lookin in and wondering.

After playing my match, i then learned that i would not have to play again until Tuesday.Which i admit did not sit well with me,but i was still excited that i had won.I had taken the one and done approach and just sit back and watch the rest approach originally. However after winning i was excited and wanted to play more. The good thing about my break was that we had to go back home to get clothes, but that was lack of planning or lack in faith of my abilities.lol So tues after getting up early and driving back at DCC i look and see that i would have to play Ryan Mcreesh.Joy, joy, joy.I think then nervouness really sat in along with me knowning that i had gotten lucky and winning by playing wide open which is not my usally style.Im more of a squeezer type.Unfortunately that went out of the window and i got drilled.I had my oppurtunites however i didnt make the most of them and lost 3-0 in about 15 minutes. There were several complaints about scheduling due to the amount of players and tables.I did speak to Greg and he addressed those concerns. He is trying hard and i know on RSB, he via John(instroke) posted a reply to several concerns brought up.I recieved a copy of that reply when i talked to him.He is all about pool and trying to give back to it.He wants everyone to be happy from the sweator to the player, gambler, stakehorse and everybody in between.I think if you havent been you should at least go and see for yourself.Me personally it has given me an insight to my playing abilities on a stage as big as DCC.Plus it makes a great vacation trip.Lots of action in the tourney room and the "Diamond pit".Also i cant wait till next year when i try my hand at all three events.Gives me a reason to hone all my skills in all 3 games which cant hurt in the long run. Also it was great to see alot of the female players come out and play with the men.But im sure ive bored everybody to sleep, was that snoring i heard? lol
