Fitting White Diamond tips to ferrule question

Hey guys:
I recently did some research on here and decided to buy 3, 13.5mm White Diamond J/B cue tips off of Ebay for 11.99. In my rush of time, I didn't check the actual size of the ferrule's I would be getting these put on. Now I don't have a digital mic so with the trusty left eye closed right eye squinting measure with a tap measure I am figuring one ferrule at 13.0-13.5mm and another just short of 13.0mm.
Will these 13.5mm tips still work or is there something that can be done to the tips to narrow them down? The guy I am having put the new tips on has been doing this for years. I never checked to see how precise tips are manufactured of if there is some "fitting" done to tip by the installer.

With harder tips like the White Diamond, or phenolic type tips, it's best that the person installing the tip is experienced and has a lathe to trim the tip to the correct diameter. I never (as in... NEVER) try to install a new tip that is a matched width to the ferrule. I glue it on and then trim it, as will any other good repair person.

Thanks Carl for the detailed response and suggestions. In the 11 years I had tips replaced by this guy I just told him what tip I wanted, left 10 bucks for the work and came back later that night to a well hitting shaft.

I told him I would be dropping 2 shafts off this week for the WD's and he said it wouldn't be an issue. He complimented me on my choice of tips.

You always want to buy a tip at least a half mm bigger than actual. That way you don't have to get it on there perfect when you glue it on.
