Fix or toss

FWIW, I have Delrin collets, but I often use the strips sold by Gary Langley Cues https://www.facebook.com/LangleyCustomCues
They are not leather, but are very consistent, and grip the shaft or butt well without marking the wood. I can get them to hold the business end of a shaft down to .001" TIR.
Hope this helps
Gary

Getting there ...I might be finished tomorrow and hope it rolls straight. Regardless this is great learning experience. I'd like to say anyone that buys a custom from a competent cue maker to pay his price and simply thank them. Cue making takes a lot of equipment, time and expertise. Thank you to the cue makers that post here. We appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge as we go along.

Done and I'm satisfied with how it went. The owner is on his way to pick it up. I did not use a black collar...gave it thought but decided not to. Goal was to give the man his cue back in good condition. Cue rolls straight. Once again...thanks for the encouragement/support.
