Flat 5/16 x 14 problem

I have an old Whitey Spach Hurricane cue with a flat-faced 5/16 x 14 sleeved steel joint that I really like.

Shaft is warped though, and I‘m having a hard time finding a replacement shaft for a non-piloted joint.

Would it be a suitable solution to put a plastic washer between the butt and a replacement shaft to accommodate a short insert?

Could the washer be superglued to the shaft for convenience without significantly impacting the hit?

Thanks

You could contact a competent cue maker or cue repairman and have them "make" a piloted shaft face flat.

Hi, Keith.

I have a Joss shaft, and I’m looking for a pre-cat 314 shaft for my joss cue.

I was hoping to use one of those shafts while I look for a Hurricane or Runde shaft.

The shaft can be faced off, unless your goal is to use it later, as piloted again.

Why not just make the joint on your Hurricane a piloted joint and use all future shafts on both your cues. You will save yourself money and aggravation in the long run.

I’d rather not alter the butt.

I’m sure I’ll find a shaft, but I was curious what you guys thought about the washer idea.”

Thanks

If I answered that honestly about a washer by itself. You might not think I'm a nice person.
So......
How about this idea? And for anyone who has seen Predators ghost joint, it might click.
Make a phenolic cup with a 5/16x14 thread flat faced on one side, and a pilot on the other. Simular to this one I made for the ghost joint maintenance mandrel but for your set up. The pilot will only be as deep and you need it to be for the brass insert.
This leave of absence isn't working so good for me lately. Got to get rid of this cell phone. Lol

Thanks for the responses.

I was just curious about the washer because it wasn’t a very time consuming solution.

The Hurricane plays good, but I have a lot of cues that play good too.

I’ll just put it in the case and wait for the right shaft to find it.

Thanks again.
