Seminole Florida 10Ball Pro Tour at Hollywood Billiards started yesterday (saturday). Day two is going on today at 12. If you're around the area, stop by - it's PACKED with the best players around. Dennis Hatch, Earl Strickland, Rodney Morris, Grossman, Glen Olson.. too many to name here.

I'm expecting to see alot of action today, as the players get knocked out - and when the tournament ends.

I got the bracket below. I identified the locals that make Hollywood or Sharpshooters in Miami their home room. Definitely the bottom part of the bracket was the sweet spot in this tourny with one bye and 6 local shortstops. I probably missed a couple of locals. Sorry there are no updates, I left after losing 7-4 to Crosby to go hang out with my kids who I hadnt seen in 4 days.

Interesting to see Joey Barnes on the list. I wonder if he's on his way to the Viking Nationals? Hopefully he'll be at Derby again.... he's a front runner for the action award... Every time I saw him last yr, he was in action.

Called up there. Got someone who knew a little. Incomplete but its worth posting.

Winners side:
Strickland
Rodney
Hatch
Joey Barnes

Losers side
Ruberto
Stevie
Grossman (done good since he lost first round to Monster John)
Broxon
BJ

Not sure but still in
Bilbrey (my guess he is on winner side playing joey barnes today)

Joey plays REAL good. He ran around here in South Florida calling himself Willie and from what I saw he seems to have alot of different, convincingly executed gears that he can settle into.

Thanks for the rep...just doing my part in local level pool reporting for us addicts. :-)

Called up there again...

Winners Bracket
Earl Strickland
Neil Fujiwara

Wil Bilbrey
Joey Barnes

Rodney Morris
Donnie Mills

Dennis Hatch
Derek Leonard

Losers Bracket

Grossman
Moore

Broumpton
Bartrum

Davolos
Ruberto

Klatt

Joey's definitely got game, and he's a nice guy. We used to play out of the same room in TX and he always played in the weekly tourney I ran.

It's great to see Neil Fujiwara and Steve Moore doing so well too! :)

Will Bilbrey's been playing very well and might win his next two matches. Winning the tournament will be a 'little' tougher.... imo

Last weekend, I had Brian Davalos in the calcutta at Mike Janis' Viking tour event. He plays well, but drinks straight Scotch the entire tournament. By the quarter-finals or finals, his shots are just a little bit off.
I also had Andreas Koukiadakis in the calcutta and he beat Will Bilbrey and went on to face Luis Vierra in the Finals. Andreas won the set 7-2, but had to beat Luis twice. Andreas came in 2nd.

( thanks for the updates-good rep coming your way )

More updates. Wasnt able to get complete losers side results:
winners side:
Neil beat earl 8-7
bilbrey over barnes 8-7
rodney ove mills 8-6
leonard over hatch 8-6

bilbrey over fujiwara 8-7
morris over leonard 8-0

Losers side
mills over moore 8-5
bartrum over hatch 8-7
ruberto over strickland 8-7
Broxon over barnes 8-2
bartrum over mills 8-7
broxon over ruberto 8-6
bartrum over fujiwara 8-7
broxon v leonard in progress

So there are four players left:

Bartrum is waiting for the winner of broxon v leonard. The winner there plays the loser of Rodney/Bilbrey

No scores but got a detailed report from yet another different person:

Broxon beat Leonard

Bilbrey beat Rodney

Broxon beat Bartrum

Broxon beat Rodney

Broxon and Bilbrey in the finals.

Apparently Bilbrey is playing lights out and does not look like he will be beat. So says my contact up there. Also, Fujiwara was in a great spot to beat Bilbrey. He missed a nineball at 7-5 and never got another opportunity. Bilbrey ran out and then broke and ran two more 10ball racks to take the win 8-7.

Action report that Monster John and Slivka matched up last night for 4 hrs in a little one hole. Broke out even on the game.

Bilbrey is your Florida Tour, Hollywood Billiards Champion.

kudos to David Broxon who just today alone, beat Jason Klatt, Tony Ruberto, Joey Barnes, Chris Bartrum and Rodney Morris before losing to Bilbrey.

Bilbrey has been claiming the Florida Tour as the Will Bilbrey Florida ATM, having won the last TWO tournaments in a row and placing second to Stevie Moore in a third. Considering the field, this is STRONG.

A friend of mine George, who ran around with Will some, told me this interesting story once. He said him and Bilbrey were in a spot and Bilbrey was losing a race with his opponent on the hill and Bilbrey breaking and needing four (it might have been five..I cant remember). Bilbrey gets up to close to my friend and says "try to get side action". George goes around the pool room and gets like 2 dimes of action and signals to Bilbrey that they are down. Bilbrey breaks and runs the set out.

That was a great tournament. I just left Hollywood, some real good action going on as I type... Two tables of 1p going on now for steaks around $2,000

Congrats to Will, David, and Rodney... They played great.

Thanks are in order to John Ditorro and Mike Lauren for running a great tournament. The entire two days went almost without any problems (there was one players actions that did erk me).

ATTENTION PLAYERS:
GET YOUR ASSES DOWN TO HOLLYWOOD BILLIARDS - WE'VE GOT PLAYERS AND BACKERS.. LOTS OF GOOD ACTION! 24 Hour Pool Hall..

I love the action that's been going on for the past two days, our players are always there - but they don't match up with each other - so I need you road players to come on in so I can sweat it, and learn how to play this game!
