"Fluff Up" a wrap?

Well, I've been meaning to ask this question and the "Wrap becoming Wrapless" thread egged me on.

I have a McDermott (Deacon) that I otherwise like a lot, but the Irish linen wrap is just TOO smooth.

How can I rough it up or fluff it up - make it not so smooth?
