Hi there,

I came across the 1963 promotional video 'Golden Opportunity' made by Brunswick for the Gold Crown.

I couldn't help but notice that the pocket rim was flush with the pocket castings, like the GC V.

I've never seen a GC I with the pockets flush like that....does anyone know how they were able to do that?

I would like to know this as well, I have often thought, why cant a "shelf" be cut to allow for the pocket to drop down?

I just looked up and watched the video. The pockets are definitely not flush with the castings. They sit on top of the castings just like every other GC I I've ever seen.

shimming the castings

You can lower the castings easily by shimming them down somewhat with a penny between the casting ear and the rail. I did this on my III. Mitch
