Hey guys,

I know this is a topic that has been gone over about a thousand times but given how close with are to the BCA Championships, I figured I'd tell you what I saw since I just got back from the APA 8ball Classic today.

To cut to the chase, you are not allowed to bring cues AS CARRY-ON when flying. This is an FAA regulation which you can find at this link.

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

This means, don't bother calling your airline. They have nothing to do with whether or not you get your cues past security (Security = TSA Officers). I actually called Delta to see if I could bring my cues aboard and their answer was verbatim, "Sure, I don't see why not!"

HOWEVER, this doesn't mean you're not going to see cues and/or cue cases aboard your flight. One of my friends was able to bring her cue as carry-on. She apparently forgot to check it in and was never questioned. I also saw someone carrying a cue case on the flight out there. On my return flight, I asked a TSA Officer and was denied. Moments later, I saw someone carrying a case, I asked him how he managed to slip that past security and he explained his cues were in his suitcase and that his cue case was empty.

My summary - do not expect to bring your cue as carry-on. If you do try, make sure you have ample time to catch your flight because there is a great chance you're going to be stopped. Don't be confused if you see people walking on the plane with cue cases. They're probably empty and even if they're not, it doesn't mean the rules have changed. It only means the TSA Officer that person encountered wasn't doing their job.

Also, remember, if your bag get lost and your cues are in it, you won't get the money they are worth.
Most of the airlines have a minimal liability for each bag. You can take extra insurance for just a few $$$.
You can read on each airlines website their rules.
You may send your cues by Fedex directly to the hotel, specially if you have a change of plane.
Have a safe flight.
