Okay I measured the bevelled edge of the rail and it is exactly 1 5/16ths...which is actually 1/16th larger than what a K-55 rail should be. To get the nose height correct for the K-66's that I have, I would need to drop the cushion about an eighth of an inch. This would leave a fairly sizeable gap between the cushion and the cloth though. However, if the nose height of a K-55 is lower than K-66's and a K-55 is about an eighth of an inch larger, a K-55 should be perfect for this table...I guess?

Even though a Gandy is supposed to take K-66's, it seems like the K-55 will work correctly...again, I guess?

Dartman or Glen...if it were you, would you just go ahead and put K-55 cushions on the table? By the way, if I switch to 55's, I am going to go with Olhausen Accu-Fast cushions as opposed to the 66's I have now, which are the $54.00 Championship cushions. Will there be much of a difference in speed? Where can I buy Accu-Fast cushions? I can't find a place on the internet that sells them?

Thanks again,
TT

Original K66 on a 1 5/16 bevel is totally whacked. Sounds like someone played happy-saw with those rails.
If it were me, I'd wait on Bob (mechanicplayer) and see how he makes out putting 55's on his Gandy.
I think he is doing this soon.

Yo Bob, maybe you can post the bevel height and angle of your rails for comparison to TT's.

I going to get started on it tonight and will post my progress(?) as I go along.I think the best profile without having to re-cut the subrail is k55.

the accufast isn't going to be much different than what you have. Get something with canvas backing that you no play fast.

Info so far

the subrail face measures exactly 1 3/16", so its just bigger than a k66 and just smaller than a k55. The u23 was way high mounted to the subrail, the k66 was 1 1/2 and the k55 was lower somewhere between 1 7/16 and 1 1/2 but closer to 1 7/16th. I am going to put the muellers k55s on tonight and will put the table back together on Monday.

Can you measure the subrail angle?

Looks like K55 is the way to go for TT.
Take measurements and dry-fit before glueing them up.
Remember to put a piece of cloth under the rail when test-measuring the nose height.

Dartman
In regards to placing cloth under the rail before checking cushion nose height. There is a relief cut of 1/16 " for cloth fastening on the Gandy table that I am working on . Perhaps it may not be present on all models, but would it still require placing cloth under the rail if this relief is present to properly measure cushion nose height?

As long as you intend to trim the excess rail cloth flush with the relief cut
then you won't need the cloth spacer to test the nose height.

A pic for you.

update.. It does have a little(not alot)more speed comming off of the cushion.Still gets about the same speed on table lengths 4 1/4.Cushion height is a perfect 1 7/16" . More R@D needed... Jury still out.
