$$ for players on streams

The GoFundMe thread for John Schmidt's attempt to re-establish the 14.1 world record got me thinking.

Why not have Patreon/Venmo/CashApp codes for the players when they are playing on streams? Displayed on screen under the player name/score.

The streamers have links and they are regularly promoting them.

But the players are not getting any of that action.

If I'm watching a stream and I think a player makes a great shot or pulls out a great victory, or even had a rough go but I still enjoyed it, I might kick 'em a $5 or $10 or even more. Could be hundreds or thousands of extra $$ for the players.

Even teenagers playing video games on twitch get donations.

That’s a totally different idea. I’ll have to give that some thought.

Thr heads up action matches, they always get “show up” money-as they should.

I’m all about paying players.

Well if stream is free it editorial coverage. Player is due zero, like being in local newspaper hitting game winning run.

I think if streamer is getting paid to view stream, player could demand part of revenue.

I wonder how it if say Accu-Stats could sell matches between two player with no payment?
 
I once played a video game obsessively. I was a well known player. I did deep research and analysis on character builds. I was a member of the developer’s “player council” to give feedback.

I also created a popular website that provided a significant amount of info. I had a donate button on the home page. After 5 years, only one person ever contributed (like $5). The juice wasn’t worth the squeeze.

The promoter and streamer is who is bringing you that entertainment. Any tokens of appreciation should go to them. If a player feels they bring enough value to the promoter/streamer to deserve a further cut then they should negotiate that with them.

In the coming age of nationwide online sportsbook gambling, perhaps we will see realtime betting on pool matches. I'd love to be able to (easily) bet on a game while I watch the stream and make prop bets with other viewers. And maybe the players themselves!

Sadly I don’t think that’s happening in very long time. We can’t get online poker in America (I mean we do in a couple states and it’s pretty bad) the books and those who controls them have such a strong lobby against online anything it seems hopeless.

I’m not sure why that’s the case.

I would love real time action on pool. And now that pool is drug free thanks to WADA and the 5 is purple there is no confusion about that and we are betting on sober players. What could possibly go wrong?

Me likey.

I was watching political interview show and those who posted questions "bid" on their contribution, I think that's how it worked, to have their question given to the guest. The question would pop up with the dollar amount next to it and then the host would ask it.

Have some hope. Even here in the Midwest most states are approving online sports gambling. I never thought that would happen.

I wasn’t aware of that.

Since I moved out of Vegas I don’t follow the gaming biz closely as I did for 25 years. I never followed the online side of gaming as closely as land based and tribal gaming.

Thx for the info, gaming has always fascinated me. I don’t give casinos action, but the biz itself I like to follow.
