So What's The Deal Re: Ivory
The last time I looked, Germany was still outside America and one of the readers questioned about trying to ship a cue with ivory into the US. Will that be a problem?
Forum Readers, what do any of you know about any ivory restrictions on cues being shipped into the US and what do you when you pay for a cue and customs grabs it. Does the cue returnd to the sender or is it confiscated and the buyer gets screwed....that's a lot of money to risk and it seems like if that's a problem, never buy any cue that has ivory that's not already here in the US.
Imagine this, and I'm not implying you did this, a seller posts photos of a great looking cue on the website, worth a lot of money and being sold at a ridiculous price....lots of buyers and someone buys the cue. But the seller ships a much less expensive, different cue, or the cue he advertised isn't as pristene as he makes you believe it is (warped, poor finish, no original shafts etc.). The cue he sends has ivory in it and customs confiscates the cue because of the ivory. The seller has their money and the buyer doesn't get the cue or his money back....assuming of course that's how US Customs works.....I don't think US Customs returns the item so that the shipper gets another shot at illegally bringing the cue into the US. Dishonest sellers could make a lot of money if that's how the actual scenario with US Customs & Ivory restrictions actually plays out.
Anyone known what's the situation with bringing cues with ivory into the US?
Thanks,
Matt
