I have some old growth (1940-1950) hard rock maple shaft wood for sale. I have labeled the shafts by number and dimensions. These are ready for final cut and your taper.
$15.00 + shipping or $22.00 shipped

These are all straight taper pieces. I have labeled the shafts by number and dimensions.
I can not verify whether it is from 1940 or 1950, but they are old growth.
I got this wood in 1" boards.
I also have a few rounds that I can list a little later.
PM me if you are interested.
I will accept PayPal.

What do you mean when you say old growth? I ask because there appears to be several opinions of what that term entails. Thank you.

Around .840 (with ring) give or take a few.and white ring, not black....
28 1/2-28 3/4"L
Can send but to match up I'm on south side of Chicago.

The wood was made into boards in about 1940-1950.
The first thing I see is color, then the weight, I can also tell that the wood is more dense than new wood.
Hope that helps.........

old growth.......SHAFT WOOD........For Sale

I know the photos do no justice. These were made into 1" boards in 1940-1950, that is 60-70+ years of aging. Being well aged, they are heavier and more dense than the snow whit wood that is available today. They are not lake salvage.
I was surprised to find how hard and dense it is.

I have more of this than I can use for myself. I am not interested in making shafts!
I just want to share this find with others.

Roger
