Take a look at Unique's web site and you can see the unit and there are many differences. The main difference is that the 'Shop Companion' can build a cue whereas the 'Cue Companion' cannot. It's a bigger bang for the buck. Maybe Jim from Unique can chime in and really tell us the differences as he knows the equipment better than any of us. What u say Jimbo?
Glenn - Looks like you already have the cue companion from another post... The Shop Companion comes with the High Power Reversing Motor (which this one does not have) and the 3/8 Toolpost kit standard. Also this unit has 2 lower drawers, and does not fold in half for portability. The unit is compared pricing to the Cue Companion Package III. Upgrading the Controller, as Joe says on his website is $150.Glenn Deneweth said:What's the difference between the Shop Companion and the Cue Companion? The Cue Companion Package III, and the Shop Companion are intended for CUE REPAIR, not Cue Making. They are capable of replacing Joint Rings, Butt Caps, and installing Joint Pins. The Cue Companion Package III and the Shop Companion does come with a Larger chuck for these task. Unique Products does not advertise it as a Cue Making lathe, it is definately a Cue Repair Machine. But, There are many customers using these machines to build entry level cues.Glenn Deneweth said:Advertising that the Shop companion can build cues is completely wrong. Unless of course you meant to say "Cue Maker". But the Shop companion seems nothing more than a Cue Companion on a shot of steriods. Essentially does the same job, but in a nice package, especially for portability.
