Frank Alvarez

Frank Alvarez loves pool and contributes to the administration of the pro game. He always presents himself well publicly, and we can only hope that there are others as willing to give their time to the cause of pro pool as Frank. Yes, there are a handful that take issue with him for some of his actions and decisions, and it is not my intention to agree or disagree with them at this moment.

More than any other event, the US Open is for those who play for the love of the game. Frank certainly qualifies, and though I don't know him, I wish him the best of luck.

I'm not sure what your point here is.

I happen to know Frank and he is one of the most respectable and genuinely nice people I've ever met and does all he can to promote the sport of pool.

Just my .02.... I too know Frank & have to agree with SJM. There's people out there that have their beef w/him & that's fine because there's also people out there that have no problem with him. I don't think any of us are loved by all.... we all have an enemy or two... warranted or unwarranted, we have them. I don't know what Frank has done to others in business deals or behind closed doors, I can only speak of my own personal experience which has been nothing but positive. The image of pool has to be brought up a few levels before it can try to get anywhere... Frank strives to do just that. Watch him walk through VF... it's nothing for him to just start talking to a fan sitting in the bleachers watching the pro tourney... explaining things... I've even seen him take the time to follow a guy to one of the bar tables outside of the pro arena to show the answer to a shot question that they might have. He's always introducing fans to players.... he's very good for the public relations side of the game. Does he play as good as Johnny? Of course not, but neither do most of us. FWIW, Frank's game is better than mine so who am I to judge his game?

I've met Frank through Tony Robles, but never chatted with him for long. He did seem like a decent, polite and genuine guy.

Mr. Alvarez felt compeled to enter another tournament...The US open!
I'm betting he does his usual...0 and 2 after the first day and watching the remainder of the tournament from the spectator chairs! Any takers???

Sincerely,

I am curious as well why you would pick Frank out of all of the other players....would love to hear your thoughts.

Respectfully yours,
