A buddy of mine is hot on picking up an 8' Frederick Willy table and is looking for my opinion. I never heard of them. From the photo it looks like an ok table. He says it is 3 piece 1" slate. I'll probably end up helping him move it and end up recovering it. Anything special I should know about these tables? There seems to be nothing in the archives about these. Are these tables any good?

I believe I also had the (dis)pleasure of working on one of these gems. Definitely a unique design, along with the fact that the side aprons were some kind of "custom" home job that were permanently nailed to the table.

There was no way to access the edge of the slate once the slate was screwed down and level. I ended up having to staple the bed cloth to the wood surrounding the slate. A total PITA table :banghead: but it turned out OK

Jack that was a pretty nice job. That table looked sporty when you finished it.

The good news is my buddy has moved on....he is looking at a Brunswick where the owner is throwing all kinds of stuff in. TG!

Thanks for the help.
