Free APA patches

I see APA patches plastered all over the jackets with APA logo shirt, hat and keychain quite regularly where I shoot. The 23 rule is making it difficult to get a table and teams are multiplying like rabbits.

I feel like a minority outcast being a lowly BCA member for playing scratch and for actual cash.

i never see any one sportin patches around here...except for one old lady that does have a nationals patch on her case.

i am guilty of wearing a nationals cap:grin:

very few around here wear apa shirts except when ltc's come up....guess they want to intimidate their opponents then. :D

as for gambling...you would be in hog heaven here. quite a few league players gamble.....seen mostly 20.00 a rack 9 ball on both big and bar tables.

seen 800.00 and 1,000.00 races to 10 9 and 10 ball. yes they are apa players.

Hey everyone,
I’ve seen a lot of players proudly showing off their APA patches — definitely a great way to celebrate achievements. It’s awesome that APA offers these patches for free. Do they still send them by mail, or is there a new process now?

as easy as it is to get patches why would anyone want patches they didn’t earn. 😂. I got piles of them. I’ve had matches where I got as many as 5 in the same match

My GF and I play in our local APA league, and play in both an 8 ball, and a 9 ball division. We're the ones that give out the patches to whoever gets them for those two divisions. They really are a big deal for people when they first start playing, and for when someone beats a higher level handicap person in the league.

In our league, any patches earned in a match get communicated to the League Operator through the scoring app. There is a "comments" section, at the final stage of submitting the match results in the app, where those achievements would get noted. The league operator then compiles the patches earned, and forwards a list to us. My girl then puts whatever patches are earned into little baggies for each team, with a note as to who gets what, and will give them out to those teams when we play them. She also brings her box of patches to our weekly matches, and if someone earns one while playing our team, they get the patch right away. We call that "insta-patch". Every now and then, someone will remember a patch that they should have earned, and with the scoring app, most can be documented within the app, so they'll get that patch then too. We went a long time when no patches were distributed under a previous LO, so our new one made it a point to correct that, and my GF has really taken to . She does a great job of making sure anyone that earns one, gets it.

My favorite "patches" from pool are the ones with dead presidents on them.
Don't forget when they use to actually give trophies. I had a friend who had a storage unit and they were filled with nothing but pool trophies. He didn't play in leagues it was something he accumulated through various tournaments.

That was a regular joke...give us the money that it costs to order that trophy. LOL

I always get a kick out of the trophy being to be presented .

Now a gold bracelet would be different.

I actually think that trophies for amateurs is better than cash.
Money comes and goes, the trophy stays forever and tells a story.
It also keeps bad elements away from amateur pool

I don't know one person that joined a pool league for or because of patches, and I know a lot of people that play league pool.
One year a long time ago I played league. I never did it again. Just not for me.

A guy had patches glued to his case. When I got some patches he suggested I glue them to my case...a Fellini...no, that's OK...

I think it's cool that people are into it. Just not my gig.

I am still surprised to see them on EBay.

Probably depends on the trophy, right? If you won a BIG tournament, with cash AND a trophy, would you rather have the extra $50 or the trophy? Gimme that trophy all day baby!!

If I had to guess. APA bulk trophies cost like $5 and 50 cents per patch.
