Frey, Tiger or Predator Sneaky?

I hope you're not using price as an absolute guide. It may be true a $400 cue is better built than a $200 cue; due to better selection of build materials. A common mistake is the expectation that $400 cue must play twice as better than a $200 cue, or all $400 cues play the same.

If you're looking for playability, its best to try all three cues in person. I think the Frey may hold its value better than the Predator or the Tiger. I've seen used Predator sneakies (green and red veneers) selling for 1/3 their original costs.

Where? Ive just seen one on here with a quite laughable 500 dollar asking price. I rarely see them for less than an (equally laughable) 80% retail.

I have a Frey SP as my player. The closest to my Frey in balance, fit, feel, etc. is my old Predator SP with red veneers and wood to wood joint. I could use either the rest of my life and be happy. The Frey wins out because I prefer a solid shaft. I cannot see buying a Frey only to screw on a L/D shaft.

hi

Does Frey uses best quality wood for shafts or like Josey charges extra for better wood (Timeless Timber)??

Has anyone else had any issues with their Frey's finish? I bought one new, used maybe 5 times and within a few months the finish showed I guess they would be called bubble marks. Always sat in my house with my other cues.

I never had a finish problem and when he made me a second shaft he gave the best communication of any business I've dealt with. Since you're in Baltimore why not walk on over and see what he says?

No, I haven't, you should talk to Bob, his work is always top notch & if something is wrong he'd be all over it correcting it. Bob takes great pride in his work & reputation and is a man of his word.

My vote is for Frey also. I like mine a lot and am considering adding another. Poolplay9's two long osts above are spot on if you have access to try various cues. If not (like most of us), reviewing people's descriptions is a good guide. I selected a Joss and a Frey sneaky this way and am happy with both although their feel and hit differ.
