Personally I think it’s time to start enforcing this rule. I think the game should encourage using the mechanical bridge if you can’t reach the shot. No front or rear extensions should be allowed unless already on the cue for the entirety of the match. No EZ Jumper bridges. No able bodied players using disability-oriented bridges. No stroke sleeves. Etc.

I would be happy if my opponent pulled out one of those things. But maybe your point is these novelties degrade the dignity of the game and its players?

I agree, let's go back to a time where cues had to be under a certain length. I worked hard to learn to play Left handed and with the bridge and now it seems that time was mostly wasted so yeah I'm a bitter OLD.
 
dont make the game a game of technology. you limit new players who used to feel equal with just one cue stick. now you cant compete without numerous equipment.

even the game of golf is being hurt by having range finders.

you cant compete with an equal player on a course with him using one to know exact distances while you have to guess.

how would you like to play against in pool someone who had a laser line from their tip thru the balls and hole every shot. and all banks and kicks.

Using a range finder speeds up the game - that's a good thing.

If a serious golfer doesn't have a range finder when it is legal to use one, then that player is just f'n stupid. To put it simply what you are describing is not a technology problem at all.

I don't give a shit if a pool player has a laser line. That player has to have the knowledge of where to put that laser & then a straight stroke to hit the specific spots.

In short technology alone doesn't amout to jack shit imo.

You have no point.

Most hacks including yourself can't hit the center of the clubface enough to even utilize a range finder. Give me a sprinkler head in the middle of a fairway & I'll dust your ass using a range finder.

It's the player not the range finder or the laser pointer.

Isn't that exactly what the player pictured is doing in the original post? If so, I don't see the problem.

People will not not continue to play the game if they are told that the mechanical bridge is the only method they can utilize when unable to reach a shot under normal conditions.
 
they played that way long before you or i were born and lasted until recent history.
as you could switch hands or shoot one handed if needed. skills that are being phased out in pool.

The extension weighs a little more than a 1/2 ounce. Costs $150? Dang!
Their website won't let you look at the pages about the extension without a password (plenty at the Facebook pages).

i think this would be mostly bought by players not aiming low. that fastening collar will be right down the line of sight. would be very surprised if we ever saw a pro using one of these
