FS: 9' Gandy Big G

I have a 9' Gandy Big G for sale. I actually purchased two of these tables, and have set one up as my table at home. Included are pictures of the actual table in pieces, as well as my table setup at home. They are exactly the same model, etc. Comparable condition.

The slate is 3pc 1" pinned Pennsylvania slate, no cracks or chunks
The rubber is in good condition
Molded Fiberglass ball return, essentially silent return

If anyone is in Southern California, I'd love to have you over to play a few sets on my table. The slate and rubber are identical, and you'll have a great idea of the condition and playability of the table I'm selling.

As an added incentive, I will deliver this table for free within 20 miles, small fuel fee after that (I'm looking at you L.A. people!). I'm in northern San Diego county.

PRICE DROP! $900!

Thanks,
James

P.S. I know that my post count is low and my join date is recent, but I have already done transactions with two well known members here and know many of the local respected members personally. If anyone is unsure of my credibility, please get in touch and we'll talk.

I wish I lived closer. That would be a great table. Does it also have the ball return like the table you have set up?

John,

Yes, it does have the molded ball return like the table at my house. They are identical configurations and components. In the first picture, you can see the ball return tracks in the frame. That is THE frame for sale.

I could drive a few hours east and meet you somewhere, but I suppose that with all the associated fuel costs it wouldn't end up a good deal for you... PM me if you're interested.

Great table

I have one with double shimmed pockets. Much older. The frame of your table is solid Philipine Mahogany. The tables are comercial grade and very good players. I especially like the Gandy rail rubber very much. You really should have the slates leaning against a wall with the tack boards touching the floor to prevent damage to your slates. If the slates edge touches the floor it will break along the edges but the tack boards prevent this from happening . It will also help keep your slates tops from being scratched up from the other slate boards as you drag them off each other that you have stacked on top of each other.
Your table is a steal.
Nick :)

Nick,

I appreciate the info. I have heard from many people more knowledgable than I that the Big G is a wonderful table to own for a long time. FWIW, I also have the pockets double shimmed and man is it torture right now! (This is my first home table)

I appreciate the comments on the slate. The three pieces are stored on each other, and on a pallet. I assure you they are moved with care by 4 strong young men, with no sliding or dropping occuring.

Anyone interested? Make me an offer I can't refuse!

Afternoon bump! Just put this up on the local Craigslist, but there's a $100 discount here for AZ'ers!

-James

Due to an exciting opportunity coming my way, I'm going to discount the price until Friday. If you're seriously interested and have cash, PM me. Friday this offer goes away and it's back to full price.

I WAS JUST SCAMMED FROM HAVING MY TABLE FOR SALE ON THERE. THE CHECK THE PERSON SENT TO ME WAS A CASHIERS CHECK THAT WAS FAKE, BE VERY CAREFUL OF ALL LETTERS THAT LOOK LIKE FORM LETTERS DO NOT EVEN RESPOND. THE PERSON I WAS SELLING THE TABLE TO SENT ME A CHECK FOR TWO THOUSAND MORE THAN MY PURCHASE PRICE AND I WAS TO TRANSFER THE BALANCE TO HIS SHIPPER. THIS IS A MONEY LAUNDERING SCAM DO NOT FALL FOR IT.

ghostdancers,

I appreciate the heads up, although this scam has been around for years and I am very familiar with it and certainly wouldn't fall into it. I'm sorry for your misfortune.

WHO NEEDS A TABLE!

Table

I may be interested. I lost my home in Ramona (& my Gold Crown table) in the Witch wildfire. I'm looking to rent a home in Bonsail, Fallbrook area. As soon as I do I'll need a 9' table.

I can't really make a deal until I get a house as I'm living in a motel, but things should start to happen very soon. Where in N. San Diego are you?

Barry

Barry,

I'm so sorry to hear that you were affected by the fires. I was lucky enough to be out of their reach, but I know many were not.

I live in Leucadia (North Encinitas) and the table is at my office in Carlsbad. I could deliver to Fallbrook if you'd cover gas. No additional charge.

Give me a PM if you would like to talk more and I'll give you my cell#

Bump for some local interest in the table. Someone should be coming to see it this weekend. Money talks though!

Hi,

I have a question for you. I had a Macon Billiards table and was told that it was a copy of a Gandy table and made by Macon Billiards in GA. Do you have any other info??

Thanks,

Russ......

Russ,

I was going to reply with what I had heard, but instead you inspired me to do some research. Using the wayback machine, I brought up gandy's website from 2000. Here is what they say.

http://web.archive.org/web/20010110013600/gandys.com/about.htm

"Gandy began in the basement of a Macon, GA pool hall, owned and operated by billiards enthusiast Roy Gandy, his son Kim, and partner Billy Spivey. Frustrated in their attempts to find a top quality commercial table, they decided to try their hand at designing and building their own. The resulting Gandy "Big G" quickly gained national and international recognition as one of the best built commercial tables on the market, and the table of choice for many professional players.

Now a Division of Macon Manufacturing, Inc., Gandy occupies a well equipped 60,000 sq. ft. plant in Macon, GA where both commercial and furniture style home tables are produced. The Big G and Sportsman commercial tables are renown for their durability, superior playing characteristics and value. Gandy home tables feature solid hardwood construction, fine furniture finishes, and the same superior playing qualities as the commercial tables. Sophisticated production techniques enable Gandy to offer the discriminating consumer rapid delivery of virtually a custom built product, with thousands of variations including many unique designs, exotic hardwoods and other options. Known as "the table that becomes an heirloom", Gandy home models emulate the hardwood construction methods of an earlier era. Each Gandy table is made to order and the home models are backed by a lifetime warranty. "

Hope that is helpful!

Thanks for the info !!!!!!

I had the same table that you are selling, except mine was fixed pockets. For anyone interested, I can vouch for the quality of the Macon Billiards table. The one I had was a great table for a great price.

Good luck with your sale.

Russ..

Thanks for the vouch Russ!

Bump for a great deal on a great table. Now someone buy it!
