FS: Blue Pre-Flag Master Chalk

Pre-Flag Master

SOLD

I have some blue pre-flag for sale. It all comes from the same one-gross box/batch. I have eight dozen cubes for sale. All unused.

It's at least 25 years old as it has the drilled start holes, ensuring it's genuine pre-flag. The labels have Illinois abbreviated "ILL" rather than "IL", another indication of it's age.

Prices are absolutely firm. If you make a lower offer, I probably won't even reply.

EDIT: I also have a box of a dozen cubes of Kieckhefer Triangle chalk for sale. Buy all 96 cubes of the pre-flag and I'll throw in the Kieckhefer Triangle chalk for free. I'm asking $25 for the Kieckhefer Triangle separately. (http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=290844)

Prices for the Master pre-flag...

$19 per doz. for one doz. ($19) no box.
$18 per doz. for two doz. ($36) no box.
$17 per doz. for three doz. ($51) no box.
$16 per doz. for four doz. ($64) no box.
$15 per doz. for five doz. ($75) no box.
$14 per doz. for six doz. ($84) no box.
$13 per doz. for seven doz. ($91) no box.
$12 per doz. for all eight doz. ($96) and you also get the box itself and the Kieckhefer Triangle chalk.

Paypal only. Prices include Paypal fees and shipping. Will ship to USA, lower 48 only.

Ok I will ask an ignorant question....what is the big deal w/ the chalk being pre flag?

EDIT: In the mid to late "90's, the company that makes the chalk changed the formula. The old formula is better. It adheres to the tip better, less miscues, more spin, stays on the tip longer, less cast off, cleaner tables, cleaner balls, cleaner shafts, cleaner hands. This is my opinion and this opinion is shared by many folks on this forum.

In all fairness, there are also people who say they can't tell the difference. Also it should be noted that the company states that there was never a formula change. Therefore the topic is somewhat controversial. But, as stated, many people are very confident that the older chalk is different. END OF EDIT

There is no correlation as to why the flag was added to the label and the formula change. The timing of the formula change and the label change was close enough that people started to associate the two events and now it is called "pre-flag" (even though the difference in timing could be like five years or so). You can get the newer formula without the flag if you're not careful, which might have something to do with why some people say they can't tell the difference.

Here's one good thread about it. You can also do a search for "flag Master chalk" to find many other threads.

I used to be a lurker on this forum for a long time. I was not a member, but I knew all the hype about pre-flag. One day I stumbled on a five gross case of this stuff and bought it at the retail price. I knew I couldn't lose. I could always sell what I didn't want. I tried it for the first time and loved it. But I needed the money, so I signed up as a member and used "Pre-Flag Master" as my user name because my only agenda at the time was to sell the chalk. I thought that it was a clever play on words. I sold all of the chalk, but ended up regretting that I didn't keep at least a couple dozen cubes for myself. Since then I have lucked across more pre-flag and now have all I will ever need.

Now I only wish I didn't select such a moronic user name.

BTW, even at $19 for one dozen the price beats all the "designer" chalks on the market today and it's better than all of them in my opinion (I haven't tried Kamui, but that's a horse of a different color anyway because of the price).

Here's a better explanation rather than just posting the link earlier...

This chalk has most assuredly been sold

Six dozen sold.

Two dozen have sale pending.

So that's it, unless the sale falls through.
