It replaces the factory bumper and provides dampened vibration for "enhanced energy on the break" and more "consistent english".

Limbsaver-- worth a try to concentrate the power on the break. The first time I used it, I really did feel a difference in how the power seemed to jump off the cue.

It adds some weight to back of the cue, but it does good job concentrating that power for a break that really breaks those balls.
