These three one-owner (me) shafts from Tim Scruggs were made in the early 1990's.

Length: all 29", excluding tips

Joints: 5/16 x 14 piloted, with a brass insert

Ferrules: aegis, just slightly under 1" in length

Tips: not laminated (probably Triangles)

Trim rings: black and maple stitch rings in the center, a black ring to each side of that, and a silver ring to each side of that

I mention below that the shafts show some wobble. If your objective is to buy a shaft for playing pool, the degree of wobble in these shafts is completely irrelevant.

Price: one shaft for $x; two for $y; all three for $z, delivered anywhere in the continental USA. Shaft C has been SOLD. Shaft B has been SOLD.

Satisfaction guaranteed. If you receive a shaft and decide within a couple of days that you do not want it, just return it to me (in the same condition in which you received it) and I'll refund your money.

Shaft A: 11.9 mm at the ferrule, 0.836" at the joint, 3.9 oz. The condition is nearly new, although a very slight wobble can be seen.

Shaft B SOLD, pending payment: 12.6 mm at the ferrule, 0.836" at the joint, 3.9 oz. The condition is very good, although it shows some wear in the finish at the joint, and a slight wobble can be seen.

Shaft C SOLD: 12.8 mm at the ferrule, 0.836" at the joint, 4.0 oz. The condition is very good, although it shows wear in the finish at the joint, and a slight wobble can be seen.

The last time I checked -- about one year ago -- the price of a new Scruggs shaft without an ivory ferrule was, I think, $235.

So you can buy two of my shafts for the price of one new one!

Bump with additional information.

As I mentioned, these shafts were made to fit a 5/16 x 14 joint pin. But a shaft can be modified at a fairly reasonable cost to fit a different joint pin. For example, if you wanted to use one of these Scruggs shafts on your butt that has a 3/8 x 10 joint pin, a cue maker could do the following:

- remove the brass insert from the shaft
- drill or bore a somewhat larger hole than is already there
- plug the hole with hardwood or phenolic
- drill and tap the shaft for the 3/8 x 10 pin on your butt

In addition, the joint collar and trim ring could be changed, and the collar could even be made a bit larger or smaller to fit your butt.

So that's how a Scruggs shaft, with its well known playability, could be adapted to fit a butt with a different joint pin or joint diameter.

I bought Shaft C from AtLarge (Chuck) and it arrived today. I put it on my Scruggs cue and it hits great! To get a TS shaft for these prices is an awesome deal. The "wobble" he mentioned in the shaft description was very, very minor--I consider the shaft I got to be in 98% condition.

Bump for some great TS shafts!

Shafts B and C are now in the hands of new owners, both of whom were pleased with what they received.

That leaves Shaft A. It's the thinnest of the three, at just under 12 mm. It has not been worn down to that size from use or maintenance; that was its original diameter. It is in excellent shape and could be a great addition for
- someone with a Scruggs cue; or
- someone with a non-Scruggs cue that has a 5/16x14 pin; or
- someone who wants the playability of a Scuggs shaft and is willing to have the shaft threads changed to fit a different pin.
