It's a great shaft, I just changed from a Mcdermott to a Schon and want to try an OB-1. Listening all reasonable offers,
Mike

Mike,

A predator 314 plays great on a Schon IMO and i've been reading that the new 314-2 predators are a little better than the 314, but I haven't had a chance to try the newer model yet.

Thanks James, I've also heard the 314-2 are recalled because of a faulty ferrule? Maybe I'll try an older 314.

How's that Runde playing?

nope they're fine now. only the batch with serial numbers between 3000-7000 could have problems. they also werent recalled. darrin demonstrated 2 ways to test the ferrule and if the ferrule failed either of the tests then u can send it back in for a fix. but he said the majority of them were fine. the new 314-2's being made now have a silver sticker on them that says quality guaranteed or something like that, and i think they dont have serials any more. basically distributors have all gotten new problem free shipments by now so i dont think u have to worry about the recall any more. if u buy one just ask the seller to make sure it's one with the quality guarantee sticker on it and u're good.

What's the shaft weight and joint diameter?
Hey Joaquin,
From what I remember, the weight is a 4.04 oz. I'm not sure on the joint diameter, it's the standard 3/8x10, it fits my Mcdermott. Sorry. If it's a deal breaker, I can find out for you.

Best,
Mike

Who makes this smart shaft ? Please tell me a little about the design or maybe even the hit?
Thanks
Mark

Check out http://www.platinumbilliards.com
Scroll down to Universal Smart Shaft, all the specs and techs are there. Platinum has also created a deflection chart at the bottom of their homepage.

Basically, it's a low deflection cue (like predator, OB-1, etc.). All the reviews I've read and from my personal experience, the hit and feedback are very similar to a high quality maple shaft (very solid). But you get the added bonus of no deflection. It's not a hard hit and it's not a soft hit.

Hope that helps,
Mike
