FS-Very Nice Skip Weston - More Pics

Well, as much as this pains me, I am offering up my beautiful Skip Weston cue for sale. I am in the process of ordering a new, slightly fancier Skip and cannot afford to get one without parting with the other. :(
From what I have been told, this cue has a few 'firsts' for a Skip cue. It was the first cue he did with an ebony-nose. The very first of his SW-inspired designs. And the first and only 8 point cue that Skip had done with 'veneered' shadow points. Because of the way Skip does his 'veneers', this actually qualifies as a 32 point cue. Pretty amazing. This cue was also photographed for Skip's entry into the Blue Book.

* I have confirmation that this cue IS going to be featured in the BB 3rd Edition...twice! It will be featured in a pic of examples of his work, as well as a pricing example in the pricing section for Skip's cues.

The cue has been very well taken care of. Cue was refinished, leather wrap reconditioned, and playing shaft bleached, cleaned, and resealed by Scot @ Proficient about 3 weeks ago. Cue is pristine. I know everyone says their cue plays 'jam up'...why wouldn't you if you were trying to sell? But this one really and truly does play fantastically.
Here are the specs:
Overall length: 58"
Weight: 19.25 oz
Butt: Gabon Ebony/Birdeye Maple with 3 rings of Purpleheart/Ebony/Pudumuju separating the Ebony and Maple. Black phenolic butt cap.
Wrap:Semi-smooth black leather
Forearm:Gabon ebony nose/4 hi & 4 lo Birdseye maple points w/some quilting
'Veneers': 3 'veeners' of Pudumuju/Purpleheart/Ebony on both the hi & lo points
Ringwork: Maple/Ebony Railroad track @ A,B,C,D, and E
Shafts: Hard Rock Maple x2, one unplayed.
Joint: 3/8 - 10 black phenolic

The last retail quoted to me on this cue was 1800.00 a year ago. That was if Skip were to replace the cue; he is not likely to repeat the points in this forearm, as they were very labor-intensive, given the way he does his points. A very special and drop-dead gorgeous cue in the hand. Other pics of this cue were submitted by classiccues in the 'Post Your Skip Weston' thread in the Gallery Forum.

1400.00 obo SOLD

PM or email me @: onthehillagain@yahoo.com

Thanks for looking!
Lisa :D

* I need to clarify the following.. it is his first 8 point full veneer cue, its his first ebony nose / birdseye point cue. Not his first ebony nose cue. Thanks to Joe for keeping me straight. :) BTW - My ebay feedback rating is 100%, user name is ridewiththewind, since 1999. Thanks!

Wow!!!!!!!

Well, hopefully that's a good 'Wow' :D The cue really is stunning and plays so damn well, I wish I could keep it. But the new one will be a looker too, and I have no doubt it will play as well as this one.

Thanks for looking!

Hehehehe...it's cool, Shorty.

I am leaving a little bit of room to haggle price. The 1400.00 is not firm.

I am really excited about this new cue I have designed. Once it's all finalized, I'll disclose more.

Not even a nibble?! I am shocked, as this is a very rare forearm from Skip. I really, really, really don't want to take this to eBay...I'd rather it find a home with someone here; at least I know it will be well taken care of.

Lisa - it looks beautiful, but I'd love to see larger images. The cueaddicts pic links don't work at all for me.

Now that's a sweet cue. I always prefer nice woodwork over fancy inlays. This would be my cue, but short on cash. Or I'd need a verrry long payment deal... Dammit.

So many nice cues, so little $$. :(

Lisa..Do you have any pics of the shafts?..Also what tips are on the cue?..Thanks..Don

Actually, I'll have to look to see, but I don't think I have any pics of the shafts...never thought about it. I can tell you the shafts are clean and unstained. I only use tan chalk, wear a glove, and wipe down after each use. The playing shaft was always the slightly darker of the two, but not by much. The shafts both have Moori Mediums. I believe the ferrules are Ivorine or Ivor-X (sp?) with felt pads between the tips and ferrules. The playing shaft's tip is barely worn...these tips are awesome!
I'll try and get pics, but I am running Linux currently, so the Nikon program doesn't want to run...but I will speak with my computer friend about it.

Golly, I almost forgot, this cue does come with ebony joint protectors from Skip.

Well, I guess I'll be listing on eBay later today or tomorrow. It's a superb cue, and I'll keep it, and cancel my order for the new one, should I not sell, for what I feel is a reasonable price.

Thanks for the interest!

Lisa,

Do me a favor and email me some pictures, kidshark@yahoo.com and I may circulate it to some non-AZ friends.
