Full Length Jump Cue Question

For tournaments, leagues, etc that don't allow jump cues, what is the minimum length that a cue can be to be used as a jump cue?

I'm not sure if in those tournaments they will allow a separate cue for jumping. I believe the rules are usually stated when jumping is allowed, you must jump with your playing cue.

Thanks for the reply.

In some tournaments or leagues you can use a separate long cue for jumping, such as your break cue or even another shooting cue. I'm just trying to figure out what the minimum length of the separate cue can be to be used for jumping. 58" is the standard length of a shooting cue, but some people shoot with a cue that is a few inches shorter, say around 54". If you had a separate 54" "shooting cue", could you use that as your jump cue? At what point is the jump cue too short to be considered a full-length cue?

I'm not sure about this one.

If you use your break cue and practice with it for about a half hour, you will be jumping almost as good as with a jump cue.

I've even noticed that I am more accurate jumping full cue.

However, I can't get the ball in the air as quick with a full cue.

There is no doubt that jump cues are advantageous because all the pros use them. BUT, I will say that jumping with a full cue is not as difficult as some make it out to be.

What you're saying is true only if you have a real hard tip, like a phenolic tip. I used to be shoot a half way decent jump shot with a Predator BK2 break cue. The problem I have now is that I use a much softer tip on my current break cue, and I can't jump at all with it because the tip is too soft. That's why I'm considering getting a separate long cue to use just as a jump cue in matches where jump cues aren't allowed. I just need to know what the minimum length it needs to be to be used as a jump cue.

Not me. It's so much easier to jump with a little jump cue.

I have about the same problem. It's makes it real hard or impossible to shoot to jump short jump shots.
