Veneered blank question??.........

I'm not a builder so forgive my ignorance here: why are the tops of the points not filled-in? They look damaged to me. Is there some stage of the build process where those "damaged" looking point ends get turned down?

Because they are oversize at this point. No sense in wasting wood/veneer that will be cut off later. They will be sharp when turned to size.

No, I sold my old house so I don't even have a shop at this point.
