Wife’s cousin’s kitchen. The duck drinks coffee and yes, the rabbit is using a litter box.

We used to own 2 rabbits. One of them is what you would expect a rabbit to be - an a-hole. Chewed all my power cords, shoes, etc. The other one was awesome. We could leave his cage open all day and he wouldn't chew anything, he'd go back into the cage to crap, and he would sit on the couch with me and eat peanuts.

Ex-wife's dog decided he was hungry, no more rabbits.

I guess i'm old school. I still believe you have to earn what you make. I don't tip "just because". And I certainly won't be forced to if the service is bad. I don't reward bad behavior. I didn't do it with my kids, and I certainly won't do it with an adult

A tip is something provided voluntarily by a customer over and above the actual amount due for services rendered or for goods, food, drink, articles sold or served to them.

So no, nobody automatically "deserves" a tip or gratuity. Like the wage itself, it has to be earned.

I spent a lot of my youth in the restaurant/service industries as I worked my way through high school and college. I tend to be extremely generous and usually over tip as a result. But make no mistake, in the event that the service sucks, any tip can certainly reflect that.

Nope. Nobody deserves anything that they don't earn. For instance, junkies deserve to die from their od's, they earned that. Great servers deserve great tips, they earned that. Eff-up servers deserve to be stiffed, they earned that.

If you truly believe that people deserve shit they didn't earn, go give your full year salary to one of the million bums in your shitcago.

The minimum hourly wage for tipped employees are usually less. Nothing mandates that an employer can't pay more.

Having said that, someone who is relying on tips needs to understand that tipping is voluntary and a direct reflection of the quality of their service. It's really not that much different than those who work on a commission sales basis.

I promise you they are a lot of people making very, very good livings who understand that. The wife of a very good friend serves at a high-end restaurant. She makes a very solid six figures on a four evening work week.
